Maoists, UML start homework on committees’ chairman

KATHMANDU, Jan 10 - In a bid to forge consensus among the parties for the selection of chairman in the constitutional and thematic committees, the two major coalition partners CPN-Maoist and UML have started doing homework.
It has been learnt that Maoist chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and UML General Secretary Jhalanath Khanal agreed to forge a consensus for the chairman selection at a meeting.
UML chief Khanal proposed to select the chairman of the different committees based on the seats gained by a certain party in the Constituent Assembly (CA).
The UML, which has 109 seats, has been claiming over three in CA and two chairman post in the parliament.
On the other hand, the Maoists have said that they should be allowed to lead the committees of the CA and the parliament in its capacity as the largest party.
The main opposition party Nepali Congress (NC) and the UML had also discussed the selection of the chairman yesterday
